Translation studies as an independent philological discipline appeared relatively recently – it was only in the middle of the XX century that the systematic study of translation activities by linguists began. The emergence of translation studies was promoted by the scientific activity of linguists, literary critics and practical translators, including such scientists as V.N. Komissarov, L.L. Nelyubin, A.V. Fedorov, G.T. Khukhuni, A.D. Schweitzer, G. Gachechiladze. At the moment, translation studies have its own history, theoretical basis and a number of methods.
